Yes, I have had some problems with "fossil fuel" as well. I’m no geologist, but I have been looking into this subject for years. What gets me about fossil fuel, is the coal seam. It is pretty much around the world, and in places, is up to 70 ft thick. But when you look at layers above the coal seam and also below it, you don’t see the gradual progression into that mineral deposit. This for me puts a question over gradualism, and causes me to think that the past was much more cataclysmic….
Just another link. Not quite a dinosaur as such, but just to show that man did rub shoulders with beasts that are now long gone:-

"The pen is mightier than the sword".
Famous words and very true. The Greek poet Euripides said similar when he said " The tongue is mightier than the blade".
Words hurt and words kill. "Sticks and stones" is all well and good when you are teaching it to children over childhood teasing, but as we grow, words have more meaning, and have subsequent effect on us.

Are we hyper-sensitised to JW changes? Do we exaggerate their importance?
by yadda yadda 2 insometimes i think we lose all perspective at times on here.
that we are just as prone to over-magnifying any meaning behind relatively minor changes like this in the organisation in the same way jw's are prone to over exaggerate every bit of bad news in the world to mean armageddon is near.. when you sit down in the cold light of day, this change to the bookstudy arrangement for example, is it really that much a big deal?
i strongly doubt it really, despite initial reactions (including my own).

I have thought a million times that things here are exaggerated……….
I did think this during the past few weeks of excitement. I think it is more to do with hurt than anything, that and the betrayal of trust and resulting deception that we have had and the adjustment we find ourselves in as a result.
It can also be observed in other situations of life as well, e.g: when someone splits up from a relationship, many times the story they give is one sided and often exaggerated. But you are dealing with hurt emotions of the heart, and I see a betrayal of faith as no different.
Counsellors and therapists must see this all the time. And it must be hard to draw out a more realistic conclusion of truth. But as I see it, it is all to do with the healing process. And what is always a good indication in how you are doing with regards to healing, is how you exaggerate the facts less and less.
Going back to the example of someone who has just broken up with a partner; when it first happens they obsess about it and exaggerate. But over time, as the healing takes place, they move on, and it won’t seem so important to them as when realisation first sets in. But the initial reaction of shock is understandable, and needed.
So as long as you are not stuck in that place forever, I don’t see that it is unhealthy…..So the big question is:- How long have you been stuck there……?
That is what I think about it anyway……

What are your fears?
by Bumble Bee ini remember growing up we were told not to voice our fears outloud, lest satan hear them and use it against us during the gt.
as a result i grew up pretending i wasn't afraid of anything, that i was the strong one, which is sooooo far from the truth!
lol i have learned that i am stronger than i thought i was, but there is a part of me that just once would love someone else to deal with the fears and tell me it's all going to be ok. .

The Butchering of the English Language.
by Low-Key Lysmith ini am disturbed by the recent trend in the media in america that encourages the butchering of our english language.. i'm talking about examples of film titles like "she hate me", "how she move", & "baby mama".
does it really take that much effort to add an "s" to the end of a word?
now, before i am decried as a racist, please note that nowhere in any of my statements have i isolated any particular race.
-
Mr. Majestic
Yeah….. and while we are on the subject, why do you American’s leave letters out of some of your words, like "colour" for example.
If English is getting more slovenly then you have to take a good look at yourself first…..
Pull your socks up…..
